Our Beliefs

Our Message

Our message is the amazing truth of what Jesus Christ can do for us in salvation, to us in transformation, and through us in giving us new life.

Our Mission

Is to expand the Kingdom of God by attracting and leading people to experience an intimate love relationship with God through a personal faith in Jesus Christ, disciple them to exhibit a Christlike maturity, and equip them for a meaningful ministry for the purpose of exalting God.

Our Doctrine

First Baptist Dickinson is dedicated to “earnestly contending for the faith, which was delivered once to the saints”.  Knowing the importance of doctrine, we refer you to the summary of our doctrine in the Baptist Faith and Message.

Baptism

Baptism is an incredible and important act of obedience.  It is a biblical expectation for the believer in Christ to be immersed in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Baptism symbolizes our death, burial and resurrection with Christ and is a prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and the Lord’s Supper.  We would love to help you experience believer’s baptism.  For more information please contact anyone of our staff members.  Click here for more information on Baptism.

Are you Ready?

We would love to baptize you and allow you to publicly proclaim that Jesus is you Lord! To schedule your baptism, simply give us a call at (281) 337-5635.

May God bless you as you follow our Lord!

Why should I be baptized?

Jesus told us to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them…” Matt 28:19
Baptism is your first step towards in following what the Lord Jesus did (Mark 1:9) and His followers did also (Acts 2:41; 8:38)
Baptism is a picture of dying to your old way of life and being born again, raised to a new life. “We were buried therefore with Him in baptism into death, in order that, just a Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Rom 6:4
Baptism shows others that you have received Christ, “So those who received His word were baptized.” Acts 2:41

How is baptism done?

Going down into the water…Acts 8:38, John 3:23
Being “buried” in the water and then raised up from it…Rom 6:4, Col 2:12
Coming out of the water…Mark 1:10, Acts 8:39
The Greek word for baptism (baptizo) means to “immerse”

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. When I am baptized, does that make me a member of your church?

A. Yes, once you have experienced believers baptism you can become a member of our church.

Q. Do I need to be baptized again?

A. Believers are only baptized once. As long as you have been Biblically baptized (that is, after you trust in Jesus, by immersion, in front of fellow believers, by fellow believers, and you understood what it meant) you would not need to be baptized again.
